As in every edition, the technology company Samsung presents its new products during the month of March, in the context of the global technology fair CES (Consumer Electronics Show), where the main companies in the sector participate, a scenario in which the electronic trends that will dominate the market in the coming months are unveiled. Among the most anticipated products are the Neo QLED and Micro LED televisions, characterized by a series of innovations in terms of image and sound quality, thus extending the advantages offered in the last edition with respect to the Mini LED and Micro LED technologies. However, the company's line of action puts at the service of the user a state-of-the-art backlighting system that we are looking forward to testing.

With excellent quality, the Neo QLED QN900A device was a major breakthrough in 8K panels, although still tied to the usual FALD backlighting. However, the new Neo QLED TV models have fine-tuned HDR processing and grading in 14-bit encoding. The developments achieved by Samsung in this type of engineering have meant that the Mini LED technology of its TVs will become one of the main features to compete in the sector during 2022. Neo QLED TVs are defined by HDR processing and grading with a 2-bit encoding increase (14 bits versus the previous 12), so that the luminance scale increases, exceeding 15,000 levels. Such improvements do not hinder the maximum brightness capability, although it is pertinent to note that it should reproduce HDR content with higher accuracy compared to the current one. Another advantage of this advanced technology is its ability to retrieve information in high-light and shadow regions.

Among the challenges of Mini LED backlighting are a determining aspect and that is the fast and precise mastering of the light emitted by the tiny inorganic diodes in the matrix operating in a similar area of local dimming. Samsung has advanced that the Neo QLED TVs available on the market are provided with a new artificial intelligence (AI) engine, designed for the analysis of shapes, surfaces of the frames or lines with the aim of having greater control, as well as more precise, on the diodes. Such improvements will be observable in terms of the details recovered by the TV, both in illuminated and shaded regions (although for the moment we will have to wait for this test). Similarly, among the innovations included in the Neo QLED TVs is a processing algorithm that analyzes the foreground of an object in each frame to increase the contrast of sharpness and precision with the background. The objective is to ensure greater depth and realism in the reproduction of images. In addition to this novelty, we add the eye comfort mode, designed for automatic, real-time adjustment of the matrix brightness. The purpose is none other than to adapt the image to the ambient light and reduce eye fatigue in users, especially when using this type of technology at night. A striking feature is the automatic calibration option incorporated through a simple app called "Smart Calibration", a service that Samsung makes accessible from cell phones. This is software that uses smartphone cameras to detect the light emitted by the TV, perform an RGB code analysis and automatically and transparently adjust the white balance and parameters such as color, gamma correction or grayscale.

A new 89-inch MicroLED TV set with 89-inch

Samsung is once again betting on MicroLED technology to surprise consumers by offering better image quality in its products. Among the features that have caught our attention of this new device oriented to take care of users is the achievement of a maximum brightness of 200 nits that reproduce 100% of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces. They are also capable of highly accurate color restoration, due to the absence of filters. HDR is resolved with 20-bit processing and encoding. All these novelties make Samsung TVs desirable and sometimes almost cult objects, due to their high price. More than 100,000 is the cost of the 100-inch and 101-inch TVs launched by the company in 2021, which suggests that this year the price will increase considerably. Even so, the company has already announced on other occasions that it will put on sale cheaper 76-inch and 89-inch versions. The 100-inch and 101-inch versions will continue to cost slightly more, but will be released in the coming weeks.
